PROGETTO “Giorgiutti” – GRAZ (Austria)

Do you want to experience an Austrian school for a few months, living alongside your local counterparts and improving your German as you broaden your horizons? This is exactly what the Giorgiutti Project can offer you!

The project was born from a sense of enthusiasm, kindly funded by Alberto Giorgiutti, alma mater of Marinelli high school. He firmly believes that students should expose themselves to other cultures, particularly German-speaking countries; this is incredibly important for a region like ours, which borders Austria and lies just a stone’s throw from Germany, driving force of the European economy.

Hospital “Maman Paola”

The small outpatient hospital “Maman Paola” is located in Kalenda (Republic of Congo).

The management and administration of the small hospital are entrusted to Don Ilunga Mayamba, who with this medical facility wants to provide assistance to the poor population exposed to many diseases without the possibility of receiving care (the nearest hospital is 10 hours walking distance away). In particular, the hospital aims to assist women in labour in an area where often women and their babies die during childbirth. It also seeks to provide health education to help people prevent diseases or detect them at an earlier stage in order to seek treatment before it is too late. In practice, this hospital serves as a department of obstetrics and offers primary care for malaria, infections, intestinal worms, cough, fever, etc.

This facility represents a real hope for thousands of poor people neglected by the big hospitals in the cities. Since it was built, it has been possible to significantly reduce the mortality of pregnant women and their infants.

Casa famiglia della Provvidenza “Villa Santina” of Faedis, Udine, a foster home for children and mothers and fathers with children.

The Foster Home “Padre Luigi”, which for many years was in Via S. Giustina, Udine, has since February 2008 been relocated to a new facility in Faedis, a village a few kilometres from Udine, on the Friuli hills.

The educational activities, addressed mainly to smaller children, are supervised by nuns, while a committee is responsible for its administration. It is fundamental for the educational program the cooperation of the community, both in terms of public and private support, such as volunteers and families willing to offer accommodation.
As part of the same charitable organisation there is a second home in Via Bariglaria, Udine, where a nun works with non-religious people for fostering mothers and their children.
